This week is our Winter Program. Mrs. Ramick and the students have been working hard to prepare a great show! Please join us on Tuesday for a wonderful performance.

Winter has arrived and the temperatures are getting colder. It gets cold at recess! Please be sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather with long pants, coats, hats, and gloves. Please put your child’s name on the accessories so stray mittens can find their way back to the owner.

Have a great week!

ELA – This week in class we will be reading our nonfiction books from the library and working on a book report for the book. We will use the text and graphic features we’ve learned about to help us find information on our topics.

This week we will also learn about poetry and work on writing different styles of poems.

We will study the words in Lesson 9, words with ou and ow. The test will be next week. Please remember that students attach the list of words in their planner with the pretest. Additionally, the words are all listed at the bottom of our class page in the downloads section.

Math – We begin Chapter 6, Understanding Division. This week we will learn what division is, how to make equal groups, and how it relates to subtraction. Students should continue to practice multiplication facts and try to get them memorized. We will keep taking quizzes on the facts. Having these mastered will make division much easier.

Science – We continue to talk about the Impact of Natural Hazards. This week we will talk about flooding and read through our StemScopedia.

Social Studies – We continue our American Revolution unit. This week we will talk about Paul Revere and the “Shot Heard Round the World.”
