News in “3D”

For 10/22-10/26

This is Red Ribbon Week! A schedule of daily events and activities has been sent home. They are also listed above. Students will be reminded about making safe and healthy choices. This is a great time to start conversations at home about good choices as well. Children have many influences around them every day in the world and having discussions with parents can have a great impact on them.

We have our first field trip for the year this week. Please remember to dress for the weather and bring a bag lunch with name on it.

The district has started a YouTube page with videos to help you understand things such as using Power School and Assessments. There is a link in my Cool Links section below.

Have a great week!

ELA– This week’s story is Bat Loves the Night. This is a narrative nonfiction, so we will be thinking about what makes bats interesting and useful. We will also work on sequencing and suffixes. We will also begin talking about verbs this week.

Our Spelling list this week is words from Lesson 6. All of the words have short or long vowel sounds. The final test will be next week.

Math – We wrap up our work in chapter 3, understanding multiplication. We will practice the multiplication strategies we have learned and take our final summative assessment on Fri.

Science – We complete our study of Electric and Magnetic Forces. A study guide will be coming home and the final test will be Thurs.

Social Studies – This week we will continue our unit on Colonial America. We will talk more about daily life in the colonies and include things we learn from our visit to an early American settlement.
