This week we will take our NWEA Winter Benchmark for reading Tuesday.  Please be sure your child has a good breakfast and is ready to do their best!
Our winter program will be Wednesday.  Tickets went home with the oldest child at Rogus Monday.  Please look for them in their folder.
As the weather is changing, please remember that the students will go out to recess.  I have set up a "Remind" account.  It is a way for me to send quick messages to you through text.  If you are interested in recieving these texts, please follow these directions:

  • text the message @perch2 to number 81010
This will connect you to my account.
Notes have gone home with directions to log into thinkcentral.com.  Please take time to help your child log into their account.  This is a great place to be able to pull up our reading book to read our story and practice our math lessons at home.  "To do" has math lessons assigned that will be on our chapter test.  The "library" section is where you will find both reading and math books, along with other enrichment activities.
Grammar and Story Assessments can be seen on think central under in the "score" page.
This week we are reading a humorous fiction called Click, Clack, Moo, Cows that Type.   We will be finding clues in the story to come up with a conclusion.  We are working on compound sentences, which I will take two weeks on.  Our spelling words will focus on base words with -s and -es endings.
Story assessment will be Friday.
Spelling test is Thursday.
Spelling list:
hens
eggs
ducks
bikes
boxes
wishes
dresses
names
bells
stamps
dishes
grapes
We are moving along through chapter 4, adding 2-digit numbers.  We will be learning different strategies to be able to use mental math to add these larger value numbers.  A great way to prepare is to go onto Think Central and check out the lessons assigned.  Chapter 4 Interactive Student lessons have been assigned in Think Central in the "To Do" section.  This is great extra practice at home.  The student book can be found in the library section.  Test will be early next week.
This year we are 1:1 with tablets in the classroom. Please take time to read through our new Common Sense Media Curriculum at https://www.commonsensemedia.org/.
Homework:  I do not have a reading log or math log, but I do expect math facts and reading to be done daily.  I will send a worksheet home M-TH to be completed and returned the next day.  This worksheet will be enrichment of what we are learning in the classroom at that time.
Summative Reassessments: Parents can choose to have your child retake a summative reassessments if your students receives a D/F. A form will be sent home when reassessment low. The form needs to be completed and returned to school.

As always, if you have any qestions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
