Week of November 13

We had an incredible week!  I want to share what amazing children you all have.  Numerous times, throughout the week, as I am encouraging students, I hear other students echoing my support to their classmates, unprompted.  I love to see the kindness being spread from the students in our room.  Thank you for sending such great children to me.

Conference times have gone home.  If you need to change them for any reason, please contact me as soon as possible.

Nightly homework is to practice math facts and reading.  In addition to a worksheet that is sent home that returns to school.

This week we are reading a folktale, How Chipmunk Got His Stripes.  With this folktale, we will be understanding characters and discussing character traits.  We will also work with synomyms and base words with endings -ed and -ing.  We are working with present tense verbs this week.  We are also reading The Magic Tree House Thanksgiving before Thursday for Social Studies.  These grades will be seen in both reading and social studies.

Test for Chapter 3 is scheduled for Tuesday.  We will be reviewing Monday and the study guide will go home Monday.  I will send Spelling homework too, but please spend time on Math, spelling can be brought back Wednesday.

Please continue to use the Math Interactive Student assignments on Thinkcentral.com for added practice.  It is the best way to practice strategies that will be on the test.  I will add chapter 4 Wednesday.
