“Believe and act as if it were impossible to fail.” – Charles F.  Kettering
Hi, my name is Miss Shea and welcome to my page!  I am looking forward to working with and watching your children grow throughout the year.
My mission is to:

  • Promote lifelong learning skills through physical education
  • Provide students with the tools and knowledge of what is a healthy lifestyle
  • Create lessons that encourage the growth of the three domains of learning:
  1. Cognitive (knowledge)
  2. Affective (attitude)
  3. Psychomotor (skills)
  • Focus on the quality and understanding of the skill
  • Develop an appreciation for physical education
  • HAVE FUN!
Expectations/Participation:
  • Stop, Look, and Listen when the whistle is blown
  • Wear proper gym shoes to class (non marking sole that encloses the entire foot and fastened with laces.)
  • Walk (unless otherwise stated)
  • Keep personal self-space
  • Be respectful to others and the equipment
Consequences:
  1. Verbal warning
  2. Time out – student in charge
  3. Time out – teacher in charge
  4. Principal notified
  5. Parent notified
Grading:
PE EFFORT STANDARDS
*If the student has no checks, they will receive "outstanding" for effort.
*If the student has 1-8 checks for behavior and/or 2-4 checks for no shoes, they will receive "satisfactory" for effort.
*If the student has 9 or more checks for behavior and/or 5 or more checks for no shoes, they will receive "needs improvement" for effort.
Students should be able to abide by the following expectations: when whistle is blown-stop, look, and listen; wear proper gym shoes (see Parent/Student Hand Book, page 7); walk unless otherwise stated; keep their personal self space; be respectful.
In accordance with Illinois State Standard PE Goal 20: Achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical fitness based upon continual self-assessment.
