*Week of November 27th - December1st

Dear Parents,

Thanksgiving is quickly approaching.  I can’t believe it is next week! I am looking forward to discussing your child’s progress with you at our upcoming parent/teacher conference.  If you do not have a conference scheduled, please let me know.  I would like to meet with each of you.

Our next story is, How Leopard Got His Spots.  The words for this story are:

Spelling Words – chin     chop     chip     much     such     rich     chick     match     catch     pitch

High Frequency Words – been     brown     know     never     off     out     own     very

*Sorry for any confusion.  On last week’s list (HFW) the word should have been far and not for.

Our second reading test went well.  The children are required to read more independently at this time.  I still read directions/questions to them on every section.   Children could have me read any word they did not know on the test. Some children really took advantage of this help.  Many children are really making a great deal of progress with their reading. Their work makes me proud.   Please continue to read at home!

The children are becoming very good spellers.  At this time of the year, I expect the children to be writing complete sentences with correct capitalization and punctuation…for the most part.

In math, we just took the Chapter 4 Test.  We will be working with related facts, finding an unknown number in a problem and solving problems where we choose the correct operation.

In Social Studies, we will be talking about Thanksgiving.  We have been trying to get to our class election but haven’t, yet!  I am hoping we can do this after Thanksgiving.

In Science, we are learning about sound.

Again, thank you so much for all that you do to help your children succeed at school!  I am thankful for so many things.  But, one thing I am very thankful for is being able to work with such wonderful families.  In case I forget to mention it, Happy Thanksgiving!  I am Thankful, Grateful, and Blessed!!

                Sincerely,

Mrs. Joyce Chakos :)
