Week of December 17th - 21st
Dear Parents,
Thank you so much for your help making our Gingerbread Houses.  The children love this activity and we really couldn’t do it without all of you.  Also, a huge thank you to everyone who donated items for this activity.  You were all very generous!  It is greatly appreciated!!
This is our second week reading the story The Big Race.  The words for this story are:
Spelling – came    make    late    brave    gave    shape    cake    gate    waves    chases
High Frequency Words – two    three    four    five    into    over    starts   watch
*I will give spelling tests and the reading quiz on WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER  19TH.
We finished our NWEA/MAP testing for WINTER!  Yay!  Most of the children took their time and really tried their best.   I will be sending information home as soon as it becomes available to me.  Their growth as a class really makes me so proud of them!
First Grade will be having a special Polar Express Day on Thursday, December 20th.  This is also a Pajama Day!  Yippee!  I plan on treating the children to hot chocolate with/without marshmallows and a candy cane…YUM!  Please let me know IF you do not want your child to have any or all of this treat.  You may send in a treat for your child that day if you would rather.
In February, our class will be taking a field trip to Governors State University to see The Cat in The Hat.  We will be sending home permission slips with a request for payment after we get back from break.  Thanks for your help with this!
The pajama drive was a huge success!  333 pairs of pajamas were donated!  That is truly amazing!  Thanks so much for your generosity and kindness.  The children are being reward with a Spirit Week next week.  Please feel free to participate in any or all of the fun days we have planned.
Monday, December 17th – Dress Like a Teacher
Tuesday, December 18th – Twin Day
Wednesday, December 19th – Disney Day
Thursday, December 20th – Crazy Hair Day – Pajama Day for First Grade

One last week of school in 2018!  Let’s make it a great one!!  Thank you!!
