Assignments

Welcome to second grade! A few things to remember are: We are a peanut and tree-nut classroom. Please keep this in mind when packing a snack for your child. We have P.E. everyday. Have your child either wear or bring their gym shoes. Please check the home folder daily for important notes.

STIGTER'S STICKY NOTES
READING : We are reading "Diary of a Spider" and " A Swallow and a Spider" this week. The target skill is Cause and Effect and to summararize.
Vocabulary: The vocabulary strategy is to use context clues. Target vocabulary this week: insects, dangerous, scare, sticky, rotten, screaming, breeze, judge. Vocabulary, Comprehension  test is on Friday.
Spelling / Grammar: Long Vowels o,u,e and What is a noun? Spelling words are: doze, nose, use, rose, pole, close, cute, woke, mule, rode, role, tune. Grammar test is Friday.
Math: We are doing our Math Muscles each day and timed two minute tests on addition facts.  Chapter 2 this week.- understanding place value, comparing two three -digit numbers using >,<, and =. Mentally add and subtract 10 to a given number 100 - 900. Ch. 2 math test is Friday.
Science: Plant and animal dependence. 
Social Studies: Native American unit - Tlingit tribe.
Summative Reassessments: Summative reassessments will be given when students receive a D/F. A form will be sent home when reassessment is needed. The form needs to be completed and returned to school.
We are going to invite the local librarian into our class. She is going to teach the students how to check out ebooks online. Please send in your child's library card.
