For the week of October 22nd.
Red Ribbon Week - we will be talking about ways to stay healthy and making healthy choices.
Monday – Wear Red – I’m RED-y to make healthy choices!
Tuesday – Team UP to Make Healthy Choices – Wear your favorite team apparel
Wednesday – Unite and Make Healthy Choices – Wear orange for UNITY DAY
Thursday – Hats Off for Healthy Choices – Wear your favorite hat
Friday – Healthy Choices are the Key to your Dreams – Wear (*school appropriate) pajamas
Reading:  We will be reading articles about animals and different habitats.  We will also work on Scavenger Hunts about different types of animals.  We will also work on learning facts and expressing our opinion.  Other skills we will be working on this week are the following:  authors purpose, cause and effect, finding the main idea, recognizing the details.
Language Skills: We will be reviewing Nouns, Singular Nouns and Plural Nouns
Spelling: We will have a review test on Thursday this week.  We will have 14 words from the last five stories we read.  
Math:   We will be starting Chapter 3.  You can follow along on Think Central.  Please remember, I am teaching different strategies so the students can solve a math problem.  They will need to show the work.  We will also start our timed math facts this week.  
Science: Animals in their Habitats - I have many activities for them to do with this unit.  We will incorporate Science into Reading this week, too.  
Social Studies: Map skills and  the Nez Perce.  We have enough empty paper towel rolls, so we will be making our own individual totem poles.  Thank you for sending them in.
Handwriting: sizes of letters and writing the letters correctly.
****  We have an opportunity to have a librarian from our local library to come and teach the students how to check out books from the online libraries ebooks.  The students will need to bring in their local library card for this to happen.  If you want your child to learn how to check out ebooks using their library cards please send in their library cards by November 1st.  :) ****
Summative Reassessment Forms will be handed out for when students recieve a "D" or "F".  The form needs to be returned for the reassessment to happen.  Please note the date the reassessment will be given.
