March will be the last month of the Book-It program. Language Arts: We will finish working with the myth / play Two Bear Cubs this week. Our focus skills for this selection are story structure, story message, and summarizing. The test will be on Thursday. This week’s vocabulary words (continued): scolding, greedily, ignores, hesitation, burden, glancing, base, console, drowsy, heroic This week’s spelling words are contractions– (test Friday): I’d he’s haven’t doesn’t let’s there’s wouldn’t what’s she’s aren’t hasn’t couldn’t he’d they’re can’t isn’t We will practice using to, two, and too correctly in language. MATH: We will take the assessment on Ch. 8: Understanding Fractions on Tuesday. The students brought home a study guide on Thursday that we went over together in class. Then we will begin Ch. 9: Comparing Fractions. Math Targets: We will continue to take 2 min. multiplication facts tests every Monday and Wednesday. Your child will be expected to complete 33 basic facts in 2 min. to move on to the next set of facts. SCIENCE / SOCIAL STUDIES: In social studies, we will be completing our president projects. A copy of your child’s PowerPoint presentation will be coming home. The students take part in the 3rd grade presidents’ parade for the other students in the school on Wednesday, February 20. Ask your child about these activities! We will begin our Environmental Traits module of StemScopes in science.
