Important Notes:
-Some students are not checking their assignment books nightly.  Please sign them each night (Monday –Thursday night) to help your child with responsibility and to strengthen home / school communication.
 
Language Arts:
We will continue working with the informational text, Technology Wins the Game, in our reading textbooks.  Our focus skills for this story are sequence of events, text and graphic features, and questioning.

We will be working with possessive nouns this week in language.
 
MATH:
We have begun Chapter 1: Addition and Subtraction Within 1,000.  Students will work on rounding and estimating sums.
 
We have been hard at work learning multiplication facts and making our own flashcards.  Please take 5 minutes to study these flashcards nightly!  Students may keep the flashcards at home to practice now that we have made the full set of basic facts.
 
Students should also be practicing math facts on the Xtra Math website at home. 
 
SCIENCE / SOCIAL STUDIES:
In social studies we will learn about the first European settlers in America.
 
In science, we will begin our unit on magnetic and electric forces.
