SHSD161 Staff Members Earn ISBE Awards

ISBE to celebrate all awardees at a May 18 banquet

Congratulations to the three SHSD161 staff members who earned recognition in the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) 2024 Those Who Excel & Teacher of the Year Awards! 

Those recognized for their work include: 

• Jody Diehl, Arbury Hills School Second Grade Teacher | Teacher Award of Meritorious Service
• Kyrianne Evans, Hilda Walker Intermediate School Sixth Grade Resource Teacher | Teacher Award of Special Recognition
• Megan Studencki, Hilda Walker Intermediate School Paraprofessional | Educational Service Personnel Award of Special Recognition

Since 1970, the Illinois State Board of Education has sponsored the Those Who Excel & Teacher of the Year program to honor educators who have made significant contributions to our state's public and nonpublic elementary and secondary schools. Awards are presented in seven categories: classroom teachers, early career educators (teachers 1-4 years), school administrators, student support personnel, educational service personnel, community volunteers, and teams. ISBE honored more than 500 Illinoisans for their extraordinary contributions to education across our state this year.
